Shropshire Care Awards
2008

Sally Harris from Sentinel Training in Care presents Learner of the
Year Hayley Chapman with her award with Christine Hamilton.

Hayley Chapman is learner of the year

Hayley Chapman from Barclay Gardens domiciliary care agency (DCA) in Donnington, Telford has been awarded a top learner award at the Shropshire Care Awards. The prestigious award ceremony held at The International Centre was hosted by BBC Radio Shropshire DJ Eric Smith with after dinner speaker Christine Hamilton.

250 guests from over 16 residential care homes, domiciliary agencies and day centers from all around the county supported the second Shropshire Care Awards ceremony. The awards acknowledge the hard work, success and outstanding achievement of care staff, nurses and care managers working within the independent care community in Shropshire.

Hayley Chapman from Telford said, ” Up until 12 months ago I worked as a sales manager so this just exceeds my own expectations of working within care, I now have a thoroughly rewarding job which I love to bits.”

Manager Amy Hutchings who nominated Hayley said, ”She has reached senior status in just 8 months of working at the domiciliary agency and leads a team of 8 carers, she is an extremely committed, hardworking individual. She is nothing short of sponge who will soak up whatever training and information there is available, but retains an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.”

Sponsor Sally Harris from Sentinel Training in Care based on Stafford Park said, “It is brilliant to encourage and reward individual learners for all their hard work in making the services and care standards they offer better in our community.”

Barclay Gardens domiciliary care agency (DCA) is part of the 14 care centres operated by Coverage Care Services Limited who employ over 650 staff on a not-for profit basis. The services they provide support older people with different requirements and have a special interest in helping residents with more complex needs, including dementia, physical disabilities, sensory difficulties and learning disabilities.
